It’s preview season for Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty and with it comes the unveiling of all the different alternate art and border treatments that fall under the header of Booster Fun. With this set, every rare and mythic rare will have at least one alternate version. Take a look at the eight different styles that will be featured in Magic’s latest set.

Extended-Art And Borderless Treatments

These go-to styles have been a staple of the past few years and aren’t going anywhere. In fact, they are expanding with Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty. For the first time, every rare and mythic rare in the set will have extended-art variants. These are in addition to the rares and mythic rares also getting other special versions that will be shown later in this article.

Borderless treatments are always handed out to planeswalkers and various cycles in each set. For Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty, planeswalkers, legendary lands, and the legendary Dragon Spirts all receive borderless versions.

Soft Glow Treatment

The special soft glow treatments draw on anime and manga for inspiration while showing off the bright colors of Kamigawa. The neon frames helps blend old and new style and features the torii gate design around the text box.

The soft glow treatment is used on 37 rares and six mythics. The six rare and three mythic rare sagas also get the soft glow treatment. The soft glow sagas also get alternate art on both sides of the cards with the back showing off the soft glow frame.

Neon Ink Treatment

The neon ink treatment is a twist on the soft glow frame that is exclusively used on Hidetsugu, Devouring Chaos. Hidetsugu gets to bask in the glory of the neon ink all by himself, getting four different variants.

Ninja And Samurai Treatments

All Ninja and Samurai creatures also get their own special frames.

There are 22 Ninja creatures and the planeswalker, Kaito Shizuki, in Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty. Each will have their own Ninja frame.

There are 21 Samurai creatures and the planeswalker, The Wandering Emperor, that will receive the special frame.

Phyrexian Treatment

Two mythic rares will get the Phyrexian language treatment seen only a handful of cards in Magic history.

Jin-Gitaxias, Progress Tyrant andTamiyo, Compleated Sage join Vorinclex, Monstrous Raider, Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite, and the five original praetors from the Secret Lair in the Phyrexian language variants.

Ukiyo-e Basic Lands

Wrapping things up are the gorgeous basic lands in Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty. The ukiyo-e basic lands feature two full-art illustrates for each basic land.
