Courtesy of Wizards of the Coast (WotC) and Brian Kibler, check out this unique modal double-faced God from Kaldheim — Jorn, God of Winter / Kaldring, the Rimestaff!
Whenever Jorn attacks, untap each snow permanent you control.
A three mana 3/3, Jorn certainly lives up to his title of God of Winter — untapping each snow permanent you control whenever he attacks. If you have a way to give Jorn haste, he can pay for himself, and later in the game, one attack from Jorn can net a crazy amount of value depending on how many snow permanents you control.
On the flip side, Kaldring, the Rimestaff is your ticket to never-ending snow permanents.
T: You may play target snow permanent card from your graveyard this turn. If you do, it enters the battlefield tapped.
As far as value goes, it’s hard to beat this unique artifact in snow decks. Three mana is a reasonable casting cost already, but the fact it costs nothing to activate means every turn you have the option to recur a snow permanent from your graveyard. This is a great way for midrange decks to stay in the game against more controlling strategies, even once you’ve depleted the resources in your hand.
So what do you think of Jorn, God of Winter / Kaldring, the Rimestaff? Will he enable snow decks to shine in multiple formats? Let us know in the comments below!
Kaldheim is currently scheduled to release on February 5. You can check out our official Kaldheim Preview Gallery here.
