Courtesy of Wizards of the Coast (WotC) and Cardmarket-Magic, check out the red and green hybrid companion creature from Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths – Jegantha, the Wellspring!
As the rare companion cycle continues, we get a five-mana 5/5 that can tap for all five colors of mana at once. Let’s take a look at the companion deck-building requirement first.
Companion – No card in your starting deck has more than one of the same mana symbol in its mana cost. (If this card is your companion, you may cast it once from outside the game.)
Most of the previous companion requirements have been a little easier to check off when building a deck, but Jegantha makes you study casting costs a little more specifically. Jegantha naturally plays better in multi-color decks where the requirement is easier to meet, but even some Modern decks like Infect meet it, as having mostly one or two-mana cards makes it pretty easy to fill.
Other notable Modern decks that don’t have to work to include Jegantha include: Humans, Mono-Green Tron, and Gifts Storm.None of these decks really look to take advantage of its ability and more so can just have access to a 5/5 for five if they’re flooding or lacking plays.
T: Add WUBRG. This mana can’t be spent to pay generic mana costs.
Notably Jegantha is an Elemental Elk and this ability fits right into Elemental decks. Risen Reef, Omnath, Locus of the Roil, and friends work together pretty well, but the Cavaliers can’t be included due to their mana costs.
