As part of an ongoing series of weekly changes, Wizards of the Coast (WotC) has announced the updates and changes coming with the release of Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths next week to Magic Online.

MTGO Champions Showcase Series
The Champions Showcase Series will undergo the following updates to the prizing structure:
- Constructed Leagues and Competitive Sealed Leagues will add 1 QP to the prizes for 5 wins (from 4 to 5 QPs) and 1 QP to the prizes for 3 wins (from 0 to 1 QP). Note that we are not adjusting the prizes for 4 wins.
- Draft Leagues, Phantom Draft Queues, and Swiss Queues will add 1 QP to the prizes for 3 wins (from 1 to 2 QPs).
- Elimination Draft Queue will add 1 QP to the prizes for 3 wins (from 2 to 3 QPs).
Appearance of Counters
With the Ikoria update, Keyword Counters will now appear on cards.
Ikoria Avatars
As part of the Ikoria update, new avatars are being added. For anyone that purchases the Ikoria Deck Builders Essentials, they’ll receive the Monsters of Ikoria avatar.
To earn Prestige Avatars, players earn trophies by going “undefeated in a League, either Limited or Constructed”. Each Friendly trophy is worth one point, while Competitive trophies are worth five each.
Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths Redemption Schedule
- Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths will be available for redemption beginning May 13.
- The Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths redemption guarantee will end July 29.
- Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths redemption will end entirely September 2.
Updated Treasure Chests
- Modern Horizons cards can now appear in the “Modern-Era Rare/Mythic Rare” list
- Chests now include some Commander cards
- All Masterpiece cards have been removed
