Gavin Verhey completed his first test run week for Good Morning Magic today with a lightning round-style Q&A session answering viewers’ questions about Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths and Commander 2020.
There weren’t any deep-dives on cards and mechanics like the previous week’s worth of videos cover, but Verhey does touch on plenty of fun and interesting topics.
First he tackles the story and previous name of Yidaro, Wandering Monster, how monstrous was passed on for Ikoria (though it did land on one card in Commander 2020), and the wacky creatures types used in Ikoria, including the type that didn’t make the final cut.
In the second half of the video Verhey makes sure you remember Triome isn’t a real word, why the Amonkhet cycle lands weren’t used in Ikoria, the ideal combo of cards to win with Emergent Ultimatum, and how spill over damage on a card like Ram Through came about.
