Color-Shifted Polymorph Arrives In Transmogrify

Red gets a bizarre new sorcery that could do some interesting things!

Courtesy of Wizards of the Coast (WotC) and TCG Player, check out this bizarre (yet oddly familiar…) sorcery from Core Set 2021 — Transmogrify.

Despite technically being a new card, veteran Magic players may recognize Transmogrify as a color-shifted Polymorph, which was last printed in Core Set 2010. The key difference between the two cards, is that Transmogrify exiles the targeted creature, while Polymorph destroys it, meaning death triggers won’t be activating this time around.

Exile target creature. That creature’s controller reveals cards from the top of their library until they reveal a creature card. That player puts that card onto the battlefield, then shuffles the rest into their library.

Not only does Transmogrify fit great in combo decks that aim to cheat out a large creature quickly, but it also acts as situational removal — exiling an opponent’s creature and replacing it with something (ideally) less threatening.
