When Gyruda, Doom of Depths was released, combo decks centered around the Demon Kraken popped up in all formats, but success was rare. Coco7721 changed that by winning the Pioneer Super Qualifier with a base-Simic build of the deck by beating two Yorion Jeskai Lukka decks and Lurrus Boros Burn in the Top 8.
The rest of the Top 8 was filled with two Dimir Inverter decks (one with Yorion, one without), three copies of Yorion Jeskai Lukka, and an Obosh Mono-Red Aggro. The Obosh decks plays differently from the Burn and Prowess versions of Mono-Red decks, using cards like Rampaging Ferocidon, Bonecursher Giant, and Ahn-Crop Crasher to satisfy Obosh’s requirement while still being aggressive.
