Black Gets Modal Double-Faced Mythic In Agadeem’s Awakening

Blacks addition to the mythic modal DFC cycle brings a potentially massive reanimation spell to Standard.

As the final mythic rare in the modal DFC cycle, Agadeem’s Awakening takes the flexibility of these cards even further. On top of being a land or a spell, Agadeem’s Awakening offers its controller more options than the previous modal DFCs. It also comes with a showcase frame showing off the incredible art by Dmitry Burmak, who has illustrated Muxus, Goblin Grandee, Rankle, Master of Pranks, and Mayhem Devil.

Return from your graveyard to the battlefield any number of target creature cards that each have a different converted mana cost X or less.

Depending on the makeup of your deck, Agadeem’s Awakening can scale from a single Reanimate to a massive Rise of the Dark Realms type spell. It can be a value card, combo card, or just a way to get a single threat back. Of course, it can also be a land.

As Agadeem, the Undercrypt enters the battlefield, you may pay 3 life. If you don’t, it enters the battlefield tapped.

Black decks and cards are all about paying life for things, so the life payment for an untapped land falls right in line with the color pie. Like all the modal DFCs, just having the option for a tapped land, or an untapped land for cost, is quite powerful.
