Premier Play Q&A

Q: Will there be a return to coverage of Regional or Pro Tour events?

A: WotC will be providing coverage of both the World Championship and each Pro Tour. There is nothing concrete for Regional Championship coverage, but it is in discussion.

Q: Why no Grand Prixs?

A: Regional Championships will mostly fill that role. The type of event people want is the same with Regionals, just branded differently.

Q: When is Hall of Fame coming back?

A: Nothing concrete, but it is being worked on.

Q: How many local qualifiers will there be? Where, when…?

A: Local stores found out [about the new system] at the same time as everyone else, so the first qualifying season starts July 2, and that could technically be the earliest.

Q: When will we get digital details?

A: Late April.

Q: Do FNM or Store Championships feed the new system?

A: No, they are separate.

Q: If I am qualified for the Regional Championships, do I have to play in my region?

A: The invite is for the region in which you win. Invites earned through digital or Hall of Fame will go by region of residence.

Q: Does the Pro Tour invite come with paid airfare?

A: No. Pro Tour invites do not have any “invisible money” and does not get you a free flight to the event.

Q: Are there plans for high-level team events?

A: Not right now.

Q: How will Streets of New Capenna Set Championship feed the Pro Tour?

A: 9-6 or better at the SNC Set Championship will qualify players for the first Pro Tour.
