Editors Note: Wizards of the Coast (WotC) has not confirmed or denied the authenticity of the following cards.
In a now deleted Reddit post, user u/Alston1991 shared three images of cards appearing to be from the upcoming set — Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth. You can view Aragorn, Arwen, Gollum, and Frodo below.
As with most leaks, the story behind the cards is questionable, having been reportedly found “in the trash” with the poster stating they were simply “in the right place at the right time” to find them. While many of the recent leaks from past sets have eventually been confirmed, including over 30 cards from Phyrexia: All Will Be One, there are a few holes that can be poked in this story.
First, the cards were reportedly part of an uncut, foil printer sheet, however Gollum appears to be nonfoil and all three cards have different frames, with Frodo being borderless and Gollum’s frame resembling those found in the Warhammer 40,000 Commander decks. Additionally, all three cards have different languages and two are missing the Universes Beyond security stamp.
So what do you think of these cards? Are they real or fake? Let us know in the comments on Twitter and Facebook.
