Steuer Sweeps MOCS Showcase
Nathan Steuer won the MOCS Showcase Season Three event this past weekend, becoming the first player to win the tournament by sweeping the Vintage Cube and Modern sections and not having to play a playoff finals. Steuer was in his third straight MOCS Showcase event and finally came away with a title after drafting an Azorius Control deck with Mox Pearl and Sol Ring in the Vintage Cube portion of the event and running Grixis Death’s Shadow (Lurrus) in Modern. Steuer had to beat his testing partner, David Inglis, in the third round of each part of the event to take the title and the $20,000 first-place prize. More coverage of the MOCS Showcase can be found here.
Vintage Cube Online Through March 16
The Vintage Cube returned to Magic Online two weeks ago and will run until March 16. The file has been updated with an emphasis on some less popular strategies like Lands and Mono-Black Aggro. Build-around cards like Goblin Bombardment and Braids, Cabal Minion are returning to the Cube to help underpowered archetypes as well.
