Another quality control issue has hit Magic: The Gathering’s latest set, Secrets of Strixhaven, with multiple cards appearing on social media featuring a holo-stamp from another game.
The anti-counterfeit holo-stamp that is located at the bottom of rare and mythic rare Magic cards typically includes a holographic image containing the planeswalker symbol and varying mana symbols. But a few cards from this weekend’s Secrets of Strixhaven prerelease sported holo-stamps filled with X-wings — the same stamp used on Star Wars: Unlimited (from Fantasy Flight) high rarity cards.

The stamp mix-up appears on default cards from the main set and Special Guests.

Images of Magus of the Library and Dualcaster Mage sporting the X-wing along with main set versions of Choreographed Sparks and Petrified Hamlet all were posted to social media over the weekend.

This isn’t the first issue with Secrets of Strixhaven and holo-stamps though, as an image of the Prismari Artistry Commander Deck with cards missing holo-stamps altogether was also posted on X.

And Magic has known its share of holo-stamp errors over the years. One Reddit user even posted a picture of a promo borderless Darksteel Colossus with an Upper Deck holo-stamp, showing that cross-game holo-stamp pollination isn’t limited to just one other gaming company.

We’ll keep an eye out for more Secrets of Strixhaven cards with X-wing holo-stamps as more people get their hands on the new cards with the official release on Friday.
