Earlier this week, representatives from the American Cancer Society (ACS) revealed that the Sheldon’s Spellbook Secret Lair drop raised $2,140,640 for charity.

After the passing of Sheldon Menery last year, Wizards of the Coast (WotC) announced a commemorative Secret Lair drop honoring the Godfather of Commander, with proceeds going to ACS – Menery’s charity of choice.

Representatives from ACS shared the heartwarming news via the magicTCG subreddit, where they thanked the Magic: The Gathering community for its generosity, stating that the proceeds raised from the drop were the “…largest fan-driven gift for Wizards of the Coast and Hasbro and is the largest Secret Lair charitable donation.”

“Sheldon believed in the power of connection and shared experiences across the table to bring people together. This transformational gift will help advance the American Cancer Society’s mission, elevating cancer prevention and early detection and helping ensure every individual has an opportunity to prevent, detect, treat, and survive cancer. Which means we’ll be fulfilling Sheldon’s wish for all of us to play more games, meet new people, and stay around the table even longer.”

The Sheldon’s Spellbook Secret Lair drop contained seven cards (Sol Ring, Command Tower, Eladamri’s Vineyard, Teferi’s Protection, Ruhan of the Fomori, Inkshield, Bene Supremo), each with new artwork honoring Menery. It was released in both foil and nonfoil, and was printed to demand with the ACS receiving half of all proceeds.
