Second Planeswalker From MTG’s Phyrexia: All Will Be One Previewed

Check out the newest version of Kaito

Kaito Shizuki illustrated by Kaoru Hagiya

The Magic: The Gathering Twitter account previewed the second of 10 planeswalkers coming in Phyrexia: All Will Be One — Kaito, Dancing Shadow!

Kaito is the second officially previewed planeswalker from MTG’s next set, and it looks like he made it out safe and sound. We know that five of the 10 planeswalkers in Phyrexia: All Will Be One will be compleated, so Kaito joins Koth and three others to avoid falling to the Phyrexians. The 10 planeswalkers in the set are:

  • Jace
  • Kaito
  • Kaya
  • Koth
  • Lukka
  • Nahiri
  • Nissa
  • Tyvar
  • Vraska
  • The Wandering Emperor

Let’s check out the latest version Kaito after making debuting in Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty.

Similar to the original Kaito, he has a static ability. This one is a callback to Ninjas and the ninjutsu ability, but when you return a creature to your hand you can activate abilities of Kaito twice that turn. His abilities vary from not letting a target creature attack or block until your next turn, drawing a card, or making a 2/2 colorless Drone token. The Drone token has deathtouch and “When this creature leaves the battlefield, each opponent loses 2 life and you gain 2 life.”

The 0 and -2 ability will be great to use twice in a turn, giving you a significant advantage for dealing damage with a creature and returning it to your hand.

What do you think of the new Kaito? How does he stack up to his previous version? Let us know what you think in the comments on Facebook and Twitter.
