John Puglisi Clark won Magic Spotlight: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with Mono-Green Landfall at SCG CON Richmond on Sunday.

Puglisi Clark one-upped his recent runner-up finish at RC Houston, taking home the unique Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles trophy, $10,000, and an invite to Pro Tour Magic: The Gathering | Marvel Super Heroes.

Puglisi Clark went 12-3 in the Swiss to make the Top 8 as the No. 8 seed on tiebreakers and didn’t waste his opportunity. On the draw in two Mono-Green Landfall mirrors in the quarters and semis, Puglisi Clark broke serve and made his way to the finals, where Jacob Durish, on Izzet Prowess, waited.

The finalists split the first two games, with Puglisi Clark once again taking Game 1, setting up a deciding game on-the-play. He weathered the removal from Durish and light pressure, setting up a wide board and inevitability thanks to the resiliency of his build of the most-played deck in the room. A few too many lands for Durish spelled the end as Puglisi Clark crashed into the red zone, leading Durish to extend the hand in defeat.

The entire Top 8 earned Pro Tour invites, cash prizes, and a foil copy of the Super Shredder promo card.

Mono-Green Landfall paced the field on Day 1, just ahead of Izzet Prowess — the two decks with double-digit meta shares. Other flavors of Izzet and Dimir followed as the next four archetypes, with Mono-White Momo being the breakout deck of the weekend as No. 7.

Day 2 consisted of 161 players that reached 18 match points on Day 1. See how the archetypes converted below.
