Courtesy of Wizards of the Coast (WotC), check out this fiery good boy from Duskmourn: House of Horror that makes all your other creatures go fast — Enduring Courage!
In recent years, enchantment creatures have become quite common in Magic: The Gathering, but the cycle of Glimmers in Duskmourn: House of Horror feature a unique mechanic that allows them to return to the battlefield as an enchantment, so long as they were a creature when they died.
Exile effects aside, this built-in death protection puts opponents in the awkward position of either needing two removal spells (one of which has to hit enchantments) to deal with Enduring Courage entirely, or risk allowing it to stick around, in which case its other ability starts to take over the game.
“Whenever another creature you control enters, it gets +2/+0 and gains haste until the end of turn.”
Reminiscent of “must-answer” cards like Reckless Stormseeker, Enduring Courage’s haste-granting ability represents a dangerously fast clock when left unchecked – turning basically any creature in your deck into a threat, but becomes even deadlier when paired with creatures that have keywords like trample and double strike.
So what do you think of Enduring Courage? What formats will this unique enchantment creature find a home in?
Duskmourn: House of Horror is scheduled to release on September 27. View our official preview gallery.
