Magic fans can finally return to Tarkir as dragons rip back through the Omenpaths as one of the five clans fight back to keep them from terrorizing the Multiverse. The set will bring back wedge gameplay (Jeskai, Sultai, Temur, Abzan, and Mardu) and dragons — all the things players loved about the first trip to Tarkir.

The clans will return in a modern timeline with fresh new looks, while honoring their origins. They will be brought to life in new ways with more lore and history. Old dragons will also return alongside new dragons.

Planeswalkers Sarkhan Vol and Ugin will be back in the action, but we will have to wait to see what their cards do. The special Booster Fun Dragonfire treatment of their cards offer amazing new glimpses at the characters.

And the set’s Headliner is Mox Jasper! Take a look at the special treatments for the latest Mox below.

Tarkir: Dragonstorm will also release with five Commander Decks — one for each of the original three-color clans that were introduced in the first visit to Tarkir. The decks are named:
- Abzan Armor
- Jeskai Striker
- Sultai Arisen
- Mardu Surge
- Temur Roar

Each deck contains:

Favorite characters like Terra, Cloud, and Noctis enter the world of Magic: The Gathering in this set. They will be joined by monsters, rivals, locations, and legendary weapons from the Final Fantasy world, offering fans the biggest collection of art from the game ever in one place.

The set will also feature the Through the Ages bonus sheet, which takes source material art from the original games and places them on reprints from the Magic universe. These cards will not be legal in Standard, but they will be playable in Draft and Sealed as they appear in both Play Boosters and Collector Boosters.

Aetherdrift — February 14, 2025

Important Dates
- The Magic Story Podcast: Racing into Aetherdrift: January 10
- Aetherdrift Story: January 13–20
- Debut and Previews Begin: January 21
- Full Card Image Gallery: January 31
- Aetherdrift Prerelease Events: February 7–13

- Commander Party, Round 2: March 14–20
The first Standard-legal release of 2025 will be Aetherdrift, a thrilling death race taking place across three worlds — two that will be familiar to veteran players and one new. It looks like the returning planes are Kaladesh and Amonkhet, with the third being unknown, but it does have dinosaurs on it.

The set will be built around 10 different racing teams — one for each color pair in Magic. Goblins, Insects, and more will have their own teams competing for the ultimate prize.

Join Chandra in a race through the Omenpaths spanning three planes of the Multiverse chasing a special prize — The Aetherspark (which also happens to be the headliner for the set)!

The story catches up with Chandra trying to win the Aetherspark for Nissa, which would likely restore her spark and make her a planeswalker again.
