Eight lucky Magic: The Gathering players will get the chance of a lifetime to participate in a Vintage Cube Draft and keep the cards they pick at MagicCon: Las Vegas.
Daybreak Games and Ultimate Guard have partnered up to run this first-of-its-kind tournament series, utilizing Magic Online to qualify eight players to battle it out in a single-elimination high stakes Vintage Cube Draft with more than $65,000 worth of cards as prizes. The action begins Friday on Magic Online while the in-person draft at MagicCon: Las Vegas takes place on Oct. 25-26.
Players looking to qualify can start their journey on Friday when the Feeder Leagues launch on Magic Online for the first week (of eight) of qualifying. Go 3-0 in a Feeder League to earn a Limited Championship Entry Token, which grants access to the next wave of the series — a 64-person Vintage Cube draft.
Each qualifying week will feature eight of these 64-person drafts, which consists of two separate drafts. Players that go 6-0 in these events reach the next wave, the Vintage Cube LIVE Qualifier. This final step consists of another draft, where the 3-0 player qualifies for the in-person draft at MagicCon: Las Vegas.

- Feeder League: requires 6 Event Tickets or 80 Play Points to enter, three-round maximum
- 3 match wins: Limited Championship Entry Token
- 64-Player Draft: requires a Limited Championship Entry Token to enter, six-round maximum with a second Draft after Round 3. Winners and alternates will receive an email with further instructions
- 6 match wins: Vegas Qualifier Invitation
- 5 match wins: “Alternate” designation for that week’s Vegas Qualifier
- Vintage Cube LIVE Qualifier: Invitation Only, three-round maximum
- 3 match wins: Finals Invitation + MagicCon Travel Award + avatar(see Terms & Conditions below)
- 2 match wins: 4x Vintage Masters full sets (all full set prizes are digital), 4x Modern Horizons 3 full sets + avatar
- 1 match win: 1x Vintage Masters full set, 2 Modern Horizons 3 full sets + avatar
- 0 match wins: 1 Modern Horizons 3 full set + avatar

The final eight players will participate in The Ultimate Guard Finals, a Vintage Cube Rochester Draft of the 540-card cube. Players will keep the cards they draft then play their matches, with the remaining cards in the cube used as prizes.
The complete cube list will be revealed this summer, but to start, the Prize Cube will contain all the out-of-print cards that have been in every iteration of the Magic Online Vintage Cube under Daybreak Games. That includes the Power Nine, all 10 of the original dual lands, and many iconic cards from early Magic such as Library of Alexandria, Mishra’s Workshop, Mana Crypt, Gaea’s Cradle, Mox Diamond, and Lion’s Eye Diamond.
