First Over the Line, Episode 5 of the Aetherdrift story, picks up as Chandra, Pia, Daretti, and Loot crash land in an Oasis on Amonkhet after emerging from the Omenpath they took to escape Muraganda and the chasing dinosaur-mounted raiders. The group survives the landing a bit battered and bruised but, thankfully, Daretti whips up some medicinal tea for them to drink to fight the nausea and headache the detour provided. The goblin tells them to rest without sleeping (he’s clearly seen a concussion or two in his days) and gets to work repairing the crashed vehicle.

Daretti determines the main issue with the car is a blown engine and the group gets to work, cobbling any resource available in the oasis. Chandra welds with her pyromancer abilities as Daretti leads the repairs. They work through the day until Daretti tells them to get some actual rest now as he finishes up some of the finer details. Chandra and Pia bond over the fire they make and debate whether there are many other planeswalkers on the distant stars and planets.

Chandra wakes up in the middle of the night and wonders over to the edge of the oasis to rest her feet in the water. She is visited it from a lion-headed god of Amonkhet who chats with her. He asks her to tell him of tales of other worlds and their people. Chandra immediately tells him about Zendikar and Nissa’s love the of the plane.

The story cuts back to the last leg of the Ghirapur Grand Prix and Spitfire is right on Winter’s tail heading into the final stretch of the race in Avishkar. The pair accelerates into the straight away before the finish line when a wall appears out of nowhere in front of them and they crash. Alive, but dazed, Spitfire shakes the stars out of her eyes only to find her father and another figure coming to her aid. Before Spitfire can say anything, Mohar has her whisked away to a doctor as he tells the other to never mention what they saw.

While Spitfire is taken away, Jace and Vraska find Winter amid his wreckage as they look for Loot. Winter doesn’t tell them where he is and fights back so Jace controls him with his mind and searches his thoughts to discover Loot was taken by the raiders. Now they have to find Loot and take Winter as a prisoner as Jace tells Vraska that the Speed Demon is a loose end.

The next morning, Chandra and Pia find that Daretti has the car in working order. They get it started and decide they have to find an Omenpath back to Avishkar. Chandra reveals she talked with Ketramose, the lion-god, during the night and he mentioned the next Omenpath was a couple hours away. But before they take off for it Loot says there is a closer Omenpath to the east. Loot tells Chandra he knows where the Omenpaths are — even ones he hasn’t been to — and Chandra realizes that was how Winter kept getting ahead in the race. The squad of four heads off to the east for the closer Omenpath, but danger awaits.
