A preproduction mockup of an upcoming token set from Beadle & Grimm’s looks to have potentially leaked some information from the upcoming Magic: The Gathering set, Bloomburrow.

Bloomburrow is a world of anthropomorphic animals with no humans and a kindred subtheme, featuring 10 animal-folk creature types such as Mice, Rabbits, Otters, Frogs, and more. The set is scheduled to release on August 2. The token set from B&G shows off some premium aluminum tokens for Food, Rabbit, and a more detailed token for a 1/1 Rabbit Knight called Warren Warleader.

The Food and Rabbit token look to be fancy, full-art versions of typical Food and vanilla creature tokens. The Warren Warleader, however, has an ability when it attacks and specifically calls out its mana cost of 2W. When it attacks you may create a 1/1 white Rabbit creatures token that’s tapped and attacking or give your attacking creatures +1/+1 until end of turn. It’s possible the Rabbit token in the image could be the token the Warren Warleader token can create.

This wouldn’t be the first time creatures and other permanents create tokens with more text than just power and toughness. The Goblin token from Fable of the Mirror-Breaker and the Nightmare token from Ashiok, Nightmare Muse both have abilities that trigger when they attack similar to Warren Warleader. The notable part is the mentioning of the token’s mana cost on the card, hinting that mechanic from Bloomburrow could care about tokens’ mana costs.

Other contents from the B&G token set include special dice, 1/1 Fish tokens, a life counter, and +1 counters. The image makes it clear that the art isn’t final, so things could change between now and the release of the product. Beadle & Grimm’s has made premium collectible kits for previous sets like Wilds of Eldraine, Adventures in the Forgotten Realms, and Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty.
