The doors have opened at PAX East and visitors to the Magic: The Gathering booth were greeted by the artwork and frames for several iconic characters in the upcoming MTG—FINAL FANTASY set.

The first series of images were shared to Bluesky by Guild Pack, and give us a first-look at Lightning, Cloud, Tifa, Squall, and Gilgamesh.

The second set of images comes courtesy of u/normaldog- on the magicTCG subreddit and gives us a look at two of Final Fantasy’s most iconic villains — Kefka and Sephiroth.

Although we’re going to have to wait for Saturday’s Debut Showcase to see details like converted mana cost, power and toughness, and abilities, the frames do reveal the names and color-identities for each card:

  • Tifa Lockhart – Green
  • Cloud, Midgar Mercenary – White
  • Squal, SeeD Mercenary – Orzhov (White & Black)
  • Lightning, Army of One – Boros (White & Red)
  • Gilgamesh, Master-at-Arms – Red
  • Kefka, Court Mage // Kefka, Ruler of Ruin – Multicolor (unknown)
  • Sephiroth, Fabled SOLDIER // Sephiroth, One-Winged Angel – Black

The MTG—FINAL FANTASY Debut Showcase will take place Saturday, May 10 at 12 PM ET in the PAX East Main Theatre. For those unable to attend PAX East in person, Wizards of the Coast will be providing coverage of the Debut Showcase on the Magic: The Gathering YouTube channel.

MTG—FINAL FANTASY is scheduled to release on June 13. View our official preview gallery.
