Wizards of the Coast (WotC) has released their weekly MTG Arena update that includes details on the upcoming Alchemy expansion, special events, client improvements, and more.

Alchemy: New Capenna Launches June 2

The next addition to Alchemy and Historic will be released on MTG Arena on June 2. Alchemy: New Capenna will feature 30 cards with a different distribution of rarities than previous Alchemy sets. This expansion has fewer rares and more uncommons. To help onboard more players, the June 2 client update will bring two events to introduce the cards.

Premier Draft New Capenna Alchemy

For the first time, Alchemy cards will appear in draft with the Premier Draft New Capenna Alchemy event on June 2-6. The event will function just like a Premier Draft of Streets of New Capenna but each pack will have one card from the Alchemy expansion. The Alchemy card can be any rarity and will replace a common from the pack. Prizes for the drafts will be the same as normal Premier Drafts, but the pack awards will be Alchemy: New Capenna packs.

Into the Future

Into the Future is a returning event where players battle with preconstructed decks featuring new Alchemy cards for free. Players earn Alchemy: New Capenna packs and 1,000 Mastery Pass XP. The event will run from June 2-4.

Turf Brawls Begins May 27

The Rise of the Five Families Festival concludes with one final event that runs from May 27-June 2. Turf Brawls offers players a chance to earn Skyscraper Showcase card styles for the lands in Streets of New Capenna. Turf Brawls features the Brawl format and lets players pick one of five preconstructed Brawl decks. Each family has its own deck, so pick whichever family you are loyal to.

Entry fee is 5,000 gold or 1,000 gems and players can play as long as they wish. Each win awards two card styles until a player collects all 10. Once you have a style you can no longer earn it, so five wins will net you the whole collection.

Client Updates

Some quality of life updates are coming with the June 2 MTG Arena update. The decks page will have two tabs, one that houses the starter decks and another where all your other decks will live. The buttons for “craft all” and “delete” will be remodeled to avoid confusion. Menu navigation will also be simplified so it requires fewer clicks to reach the main menu from events.

Lastly, cards that have multiple versions for different formats, like Alchemy or Historic, will swap to the correct version if you play that deck in a format where the cards function differently.

Mythic Packs For All Sets Arrive Next Week

The store will be updates on June 2 to include Mythic packs for all sets. These packs are guaranteed to have a mythic rare or wild card in the rare slot and cost 1,300 gold or 260 gems.
