Last week, Ravensburger announced that they would be reevaluating the player cap and ticketing structure for upcoming Disney Lorcana Challenge events – a direct response to all 512 player slots for the Atlanta Challenge selling out in under thirty seconds. Today, Ravensburger announced that the player cap for all Challenges, including the previously sold-out Atlanta and Lille events, would be increased from 512 to 2048.
While Ravensburger does not anticipate every event needing a cap of 2048 players, all Disney Lorcana Challenges that register at least 1025 players will also have scaled prize support, which will include Continental Championship qualifications and promo cards. More information on future prize support scaling will be released at a later date alongside the debut of the final prize list.
In addition to quadrupling the player cap, Ravensburger will be shifting away from their current ticket sale platform in favor of Melee, which is also their tournament management software. The motivation for this change is to simplify the acquisition process and tie each ticket to a player’s tournament profile, which ideally helps filter out scalpers. The Disney Lorcana team is also cross-referencing the tickets sold previously with active Melee accounts to better identify these “bad actors”.
For players heading to the first Disney Lorcana Challenge in Atlanta, Georgia, (May 25-26), be aware that the venue for the event is being moved to the Georgia World Congress Center to better accommodate the influx of attendees. Additional tickets for this event will only be offered to those already on the waitlist and will become available in waves beginning this Sunday, April 7. For the Challenge event in Lille (also May 25-26), additional tickets will be available starting at 20:00 CEST through Tournament Center’s ticket page.
