AuthorAbe Sargent

A Commander and casual Magic lover who calls all of West Virginia his hometown, Abe Sargent moved to Michigan for a time, working there for eleven years before heading off to seminary in the North Philly suburbs before finally heading to southwestern Connecticut. He's still not sure how a state the size of Connecticut has its own distinct regions. If you face Abe in a duel, be prepared to face his notorious work of art, Abe's Deck of Happiness and Joy.

For that article, I introduced a few cards that may have been lost to time, and a built a few decks around them. Today I want to do the same thing…

The Kitchen Table #316 – Bad Rares XI

Read Abe Sargent every week... at StarCityGames.com!
Thursday, December 17th – I have a long box of low value rares that you can get for uber-cheap. These bad rares just sit here, waiting for the next Bad Rare article. The goal of the article is simple. I will pull out, randomly, one of these crap rares, and then build a deck around it. I never know what is coming out, so it’s a chance to have fun, build some decks, and use some older and unusual cards.

Today I want to give you the next entry in my Compendium, with a casual format aimed to give you a new format to play. I love trying out new formats, and I know some of you do too.

The Kitchen Table #309 – Helping Melanie Learn Magic

The StarCityGames.com $5,000 Standard Open Series Comes to Nashville!
Wednesday, October 28th – A few weeks ago, I was bored. I hadn’t played real life Magic in a while, instead playing online exclusively, and I wanted to get back to shuffling and playing, talking and conversing. Magic is not about the mechanics of the game. Attack, tap, draw, deal damage = ho hum. Magic is about the people you meet and the good times you have with them. No amount of online play can ever scratch that itch.
