Is there any end to the Jeskai Ascendancy train of combo dominance? Drew Levin ports it to Legacy before #SCGINVI, much to the ire of his poor unsuspecting opponents…

A few quick thoughts:

– The Arid Mesa is obviously wrong.

Counterbalance is absurdly good — it defends against all of the one-mana cards that you care about and is enough of a threat against Decay decks that
they tend to blow it up proactively, even after they know what’s going on.

– Being able to attack on a non-Ascendancy angle is critical, so Rich Shay’s Young Pyromancers have to get in, either in the maindeck or the sideboard.

– The sideboard is patently awful as-is, but the beauty of this is that if you know what you need to beat, this arrangement of colors and supporting cast
will provide you with the ability to play what you need to win.

– This deck is absurd.

This deck is absurd, the card Jeskai Ascendancy is absurd, and it’s likely that Young Pyromancer (instead of the Probes + Pyroblast) is the last piece
needed to make this truly monstrous. At no point do we really need to know what’s going on in their hand, and Pyromancer makes beating their hate cards
super trivial. Cards that get boarded in to beat Pyromancer tend to lose to Fatestitcher and/or Counterbalance in a pretty serious way, and we have a ton
of dig to find whatever they’re soft to.

This is the real deal. It will take more tuning, but this thing is going to make headlines. Just wait.
