Hello everybody, and welcome to a very special edition of the Magic Show. This week we hit our fiftieth show, and with it an important milestone: Correspondents! Yes, our own Rueben Bressler visits Grand Prix: Montreal and brings us deck tech from Craig Jones, as well as a very special Magic connection between a Judge and his autistic son. All that and more, just inside!
Since this is a live-only show, I’ll list the segments contained therein:
Personal introduction, PTQ scrub out explanation
PTQ participants’ thoughts on the format
“What is the most powerful card in the block format?”
Rules Question: “Is it illegal for a female to flash an opponent?” (complete with ruling)
Serra Angel interview
Adam (12 yr old) thoughts on Flores
GP: Montreal Introduction
A few words from r.k. post
An interesting ruling from Head Judge Jason Hess
Craig Jones Red Deck Wins deck tech
Robert Johnson’s Magical autistic connection
Rueben outro
But I didn’t leave out all strategic content. Here is a deck tech video from Zach Jesse on his Top 8 homebrew, U/W Tempo Blink.
Lastly, as I mentioned, this is a big milestone for The Magic Show as you know it, because this is the first video that has incorporated correspondents. What I want to do for the Magic Show is to create a whole host of correspondents who travel to events and report back to me with the footage, which would then make the show that week. Since most events are on weekends, there should be plenty of time to mail or upload the video data for inclusion.
The question, of course, is “who’s with me?” That means YOU – yes, you there reading this – can contribute to make the show better. Think you can rundown the deck tech better? Capture a few cool plays? Interview the biggest pros in your area? Now’s the time.
Please email me or reply in the forums, and we’ll see about how to make this actually work.
Thanks for watching everybody, and I hope stick around for the next fifty.
Until next time, this is Evan Erwin, tapping the cards along with my correspondents so you don’t have to.
