Trivia week is back! Can you prove your prowess as a walking Magic encyclopedia? Only two perfect scores remain going into this final round of competition, but as many as fourteen competitors still have a shot at the title. Even if you’re not in contention, here’s your chance to show off what you know. Enjoy!

Solution to last week’s puzzle.
Interesting note: this puzzle was based on the fact that I thought that many people, like myself, had absolutely no idea that Flowstone Channeler gives haste.

1) Tap Badlands, Forest, Gemstone Mine, 3 Taigas, and Basalt Monolith for 4GGRRB.
2) Cast Spike Feeder (3RRB remaining).
3) Target Spike Feeder with Dwarven Warriors’ ability.
4) Cast Brute Force on Intrepid Hero (3RB remaining).
5) Target Spike Feeder with Flowstone Channeler’s ability, "discarding" and paying the Madness cost for Big Game Hunter (2 remaining). Allow it to resolve, destroying the Intrepid Hero.
6) While Channeler’s ability is still on the stack, target Spike Feeder with its own +1/+1 ability (no mana remaining). Before passing priority, target the 1/1 Spike Feeder with Pendelhaven.
7) The result of this stack is a 4/3 unblockable Spike Feeder.
8) Swing for the win.

If opponent tries to ever target Spike Feeder with Ghost Warden to counter one of your abilities, allow the pump to resolve, and then remove a counter from Feeder in response to your other abilities (gaining two life).

This Week’s Puzzle (20 points total)
Contest 4, Week 5 of 5
Difficulty: 5/5

Remember: do NOT post solutions to the forums. PM me (jefftill) the answers. To be scored, solutions are due this Monday at midnight.

1) Which card’s art changed from Unlimited to Revised?
2) What is the first card to have been “Planeshifted” (i.e.: it came out in one set, then a functionally identical version came out in a later set, but in a different color)?
3) What card was known in play testing as “Pink Bolt”?
4) Describe in four words how to make an Artifact-Enchantment-Creature-Land.
5) Which card uses Scream counters?
6) What Fallen Empires card’s flavor text makes fun of Terror’s wall-killing ability?
7) What Planar Chaos card belongs to 2 different cycles in the TPS block? (Identify both cycles)
8) Which 0-mana Kobold is strictly superior to the others?
9) Neither you nor your opponent did anything all game except play basic lands every turn. Finally, you Demonfired your opponent for 11 damage. It was lethal. Why?
10) Which land, when in play, taps for the largest number of mana? (Without any help from other cards and/or counters, etc).
11) Which of these cannot be the rarest deck? The Wood Deck, The Fire Deck, The Ice Deck, The Lava Deck.
12) What card is an anagram of a type of primate?
13) It is well known that All Hallow’s Eve went from being a Sorcery to an Enchantment. Which card was at one point an Enchantment, but is now a Sorcery?
14) [2 points] Name three two-card combos for making a Red Artifact Creature for one mana, without repeating any cards.
15) [2 points] Describe a way to play Tin Street Hooligan for only one mana and have it destroy an artifact (via the Hooligan’s ability).
16) [3 points] In the days of yore, I called Icy Manipulator, Royal Assassin, and Nettling Imp a “super combo” because drawing any two of the pieces is a good combo. Name four different cards that make up a four-card “super combo.” As in my example, the interactions between each set of cards must be unique, so using redundant cards like Demonic Tutor does not count.

Good luck! Come back next week when the winners will be announced and the new competition period will begin.
