Event Specialist Position
Star City Games is seeking an energetic, hard-working individual to serve as an Event Specialist. An Event Specialist acts as the on-site tournament manager or as a judge at various tournaments and assists in the planning and preparation for these events.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
– Assist in the organization and operation of our Magic: the Gathering events (Pro
Tour Qualifiers, Open Series events, Grands Prix)
– Assist in logistical preparation (inventory, travel, staffing) for the above.
– Evaluate and provide feedback on judges and staff.
– Ensure Star City Games policies are being followed correctly and efficiently.
– Provide feedback and suggestions on Events policy.
– Help train judges and staff in the proper implementation of Events policy.
– Assist with the development and certification of judges.
– Assist with extra-departmental projects as needed.
You are:
– A DCI Level Two (or higher) judge with substantial experience in Competitive
REL events.
– Willing to work a travel-intensive schedule, including many weekends.
– An effective and clear communicator.
– Able to manage teams of judges and staff.
– A consummate professional with a strong sense of discretion.
– Well-organized and able to operate with minimal supervision.
– Able to use basic office software (MS Office, Excel, Outlook).
– Willing to relocate to Roanoke, Virginia.
– A licensed driver.
Additional Skills Desired:
– Proficiency in DCI Reporter and Wizards Event Reporter, including the ability to
scorekeep tournaments with 200+ players.
– Familiarity with the FileMaker database system.
Digital Graphic Designer Position
StarCityGames.com is looking for an energetic, focused individual to join our Marketing and Branding department. Your responsibilities would include creating banner ads, e-mails, webpages, SCGMobile,print materials, and many other exciting projects we have in the works.
NOTE: All applicants for this position should provide a portfolio of previous work.
Responsibilities:
- Conceptualize and create graphics for web, print, and other media.
- Create web components using html, css, and other provided elements from our Web Development team.
- Learn new skills to assist the team as we expand to new mediums and take on exciting new projects.
- Work with Marketing and Branding team to plan future projects.
Requirements:
- Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and one or more of the following:
- Dreamweaver
- Illustrator
- InDesign
- Flash
- Strong working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and other web-design elements.
- Ability to handle multiple projects at once, while maintaining a high focus on quality and detail.
- Relocation to Roanoke, Virginia.
Preferred, but not Required:
- Relevant degree or 2 years experience in graphic design
- Illustration experience
- Experience with php and javascript
