My first two picks were really easy, and then for Pick 3 I choose Whirlpool Whelm
over Plover Knights and Leaf Glider, to try to stay in Blue. Plover Knights is
better, but Black and White is a little awkward. It kind of paid off, as I
got a Faerie Harbinger and Drowner of Secrets in the following packs. The Black came in
the second Booster, as the player to my left clearly wasn’t Black, which
explains the many first picks I received from that direction.
Pick 31: Peppersmoke over Pestermite. Pestermite was just going to be a good
creature in my deck, and it was a little too aggro for this Blue/Black
control. I already had Faerie Harbinger and Dreamspoiler Witches so I
thought Peppersmoke fitted better in this deck.
The deck only had 12 creatures, but the 10 spells were good.
I had six very close games. I won both rounds 2-1 after dropping the first game.
I almost timed out both times due to the length of play and decisions to be made
over the games. Round 1 was against Blue/White and Round 2 I faced
Green/White Treefolk. Against the Merfolks I sided in Tarfire, Mountain, and
Shimmering Grotto, was there were many small annoying creatures I wanted to
kill. Against the Treefolks he mulliganed to five in game 2, which helped
a lot, as the game was still very close and I miraculously survived at one
life. I guess I should also thank Profane Command for winning me half of my
games.
