Drafts don’t really go much better than this one. I started off with a bomb in Stormbind, and stayed in color with the best common second. Then I figured out that Red was cut off so I stayed pretty much mono-Green for a while until another color started coming. That color ended up being Blue because of a few packs in pack 3 where the only playables were Blue.
I played against another Green deck in the first round. I was able to manascrew him for a while in the first game by Lightning Axing his Gemhide Sliver after he missed his third land drop. Game 2 I won on turn 6 by attacking with a 10/10 Herd Gnarr.
Round 2 I played against a decent Red/Blue deck. In the first game I played into the Sulfurous Blast I was pretty sure he had because I could simply untap and leave Draining Whelk mana up after he used Blast to Wrath. Game 2 he mulliganed a few times, and the game didn’t get past turn 2.
I decided to play round 3, since I was bored, and this deck was good and fun enough to deserve some real opposition. The first game was pretty close. I got ahead and was going to win next turn, but he dropped Jedit’s Dragoons with Momentary Blink in the graveyard. Fortunately he seemed to forget about the Blink, and tapped out of Blue the turn I could burn him out from ten with Stormbind. Game 2 we both had pretty good draws, and it quickly turned into a race. I was able to win that with a filthy midcombat Crookclaw Transmuter which left it so that two of his creatures died, to one of mine, and he took eight.
That one was fun.
