Pick 3: Looking back I think I should’ve taken Nath’s Elite here. The cards are of a similar power level and it’s just better to lock into Green and Elves. I’m not sure what I was thinking.
Pick 5: If I hadn’t taken the first Neck Snap I would’ve taken Inner-Flame Igniter here and attempted to draft a Green Red Warrior deck.
This is one of the many cases in which a pick that may not have been correct at the time worked out in the end. If I hadn’t taken Neck Snap third I likely would’ve ended up with a Green Red Warrior deck but since I did take it I was able to get into White and ended up with quite a good deck.
In the first round I played against another fast White deck but his was splashing Red so I was able to put my Hillcomber Giants to good use. Game 1 we both had good draws but at the end of the game he simply had a couple more spells than me and that was good enough to win it. Game 2 my draw was just about perfect and he didn’t have a chance. Game 3 was dominated by Kithkin Daggerdare. He was never able to block effectively and the extra damage stopped him from racing.
Round 2 I played against a solid Merfolk deck. I was able to win because we always got involved in combat where my tricks crushed him. If he had Judge of Currents I wouldn’t have had a chance since his creatures never would’ve had to fight until his Stonybrook Anglers had created a giant army.
