Pack 1 pick 1:

My Pick:

Jungle Shrine and Akrasan Squire could have been options as well but Sedris is amazing in Grixis and still pretty good in five-color.

Pack 1 pick 2:

My Pick:

Two cards are very tempting here: Resounding Silence and Crumbling Necropolis. I’ll go for the land to avoid being committed yet as it is also very good in five-color.

Pack 1 pick 3:

My Pick:

For the first time thus far I must make a decision and I pick the Grixis card over the five-color offering (Esper Panorama).

Pack 1 pick 4:

My Pick:

Hissing Iguanar is good too but it is less flexible than the 3/3. Also it is great in an aggro deck and nothing indicates my deck is going to be aggro for now.

Pack 1 pick 5:

My Pick:

Of course the Battlemage/Sedris combo is pretty sexy but I don’t have a single removal spell yet. Even if I am not a huge fan of Soul’s Fire in this archetype it will do.

Pack 1 pick 6:

My Pick:

Pack 1 pick 7:

My Pick:

Once again I don’t feel like picking the Capsule too high and Kederekt Creeper is good but would make my deck less stable while the Panorama makes it more stable.

Pack 1 pick 8:

My Pick:

Pack 1 pick 9:

My Pick:

Excellent with Sedris.

Pack 1 pick 10:

My Pick:

Pack 1 pick 11:

My Pick:

Can be pretty good with so many Unearth guys and Dragon Fodder.

Pack 2 pick 1:

My Pick:

When you pass Godsire and his pals don’t forget to cut the 1/1 tutor guys in the last few picks. Also always remember when you pass instant winners like Naya Charm so you can play around them.

Pack 2 pick 2:

My Pick:

Marauder would be pretty nice too but as I passed two Capsules already I won’t have many more options to get card advantage in the deck.

Pack 2 pick 3:

My Pick:

Scourge Devil is excellent as well but with double Bone Splinters I can now deal with nearly any guy.

Pack 2 pick 4:

My Pick:

Very good in synergy with double Bone Splinters. I would have picked the Obelisk over it if I had no fixer but with one Panorama and one Triple land I’m fine.

Pack 2 pick 5:

My Pick:

I hesitated a lot over this one. Another fixer isn’t necessary but it would be nice. However with double Bone Splinters I want as many Unearth guys as I can get. The card is obviously not worth a fifth pick but it is very good in my deck.

Pack 2 pick 6:

Pack 2 pick 9:

My Pick:

I wanted the Viashino very much but Viscera Dragger is the best Unearth card with Bone Splinters.

Pack 3 pick 1:

My Pick:

Yoke is very good in the deck but will wheel… the question here is Summoner or Drag Down? Of course I don’t have any artifact guys yet but it’ still a 3/3 flyer and I can probably have a Strix or at least one other artifact guy in the draft. To be honest I was about to pick Drag Down when 5 seconds before the clock turned down to 0 I realized I could maybe have some crazy Summoner/Strix/Sedris combo.

Pack 3 pick 2:

My Pick:

Pack 3 pick 3:

My Pick:

With so many removal spells I can now pick all the Yokes of the Damned which will be as good as true removal spells in my deck.

Pack 3 pick 4:

My Pick:

Pack 3 pick 5:

My Pick:

I probably won’t play Hellspark Elemental so I just go for the sideboard card.

Pack 3 pick 6:

My Pick:

In most Grixis decks I’d pick Dreadwing over it but considering how many removal spells I already have Yoke is great in my deck.

Pack 3 pick 7:

My Pick:

It makes most of my removal spells (Soul’s Fire 2 Dark Temper) much better.

Pack 3 pick 8:

My Pick:

Canyon Minotaur could be fine but once again I have so many removal spells that Yoke is really good. Also it makes the Tempers better.

Pack 3 pick 9:

I’m pretty happy with my deck. I can kill pretty much any guy. I think I have great matchups versus Naya Bant and Jund awful versus five-color and Esper and fine against Grixis.

ROUND 1: Esper (Limited rating 1795)

I fear my games were not very interesting. In game 1 I took a mulligan and kept a double Mountain Viscera Dragger hand. When I eventually drew a Swamp I was already dead.

For the second game just replace Swamp by Mountain and Mountain by Swamp in the previous sentence and you will understand how I lost round 1 in about five minutes.

It was a little frustrating as I knew my deck wasn’t great (as it was not so good versus decks able to produce massive card advantage) and it would lose instantly to Necrogenesis but I still liked it.

Until Friday…
