1) Howl of the Night Pack
2) Gravedigger
3) Borderland Ranger
4) Divine Verdict
5) Wind Drake
Howl of the Night pack requires playing much Green but the color has so many playables that when you play it it’s usually your main one.
Gravedigger and Borderland Ranger are about as good but I like Black better than Green in the format. There are so many strong creatures in the format that Divine Verdict even though it would not be great in most formats is really good here. I like Wind Drake and I’d rather go Blue than White but Blue doesn’t need three-drops so much while removal spells are capital in every deck.
1/2) Sleep/Giant Spider
I haven’t cast Sleep in M10 draft. I have faced only one and it killed me. In sealed which is much slower I’ve seen it win countless games by itself so and even though Giant Spider may be the best choice (slightly worse but the same color) I must see the card in action more often in order to form a better opinion.
And by the way the double Blue despite running Howl of the Night pack isn’t a problem. Sleep is not a card you need in early game so 6 or 7 Island are enough to run it.
1) Acidic Slime
2) Stampeding Rhino
I like the Rhino a lot in particular in an aggro archetype which will often race making trample a very interesting bonus but Acidic Slime is strictly a better card. Destroying the land gives a tempo advantage your opponent sometimes never get back from and it also destroys key cards such as Mind control or Pacifism.
The pick is quite obvious here but if I had actually picked the Spider in pack 2 I’d have gone with Assassinate in this pack.
1) Vampire Aristocrat
2) Fog
3) Weakness
4) Solemn Offering
Nothing relevant in UG except for a Fog which would be useful in the sideboard and make a decent filler; However I still haven’t been passed any relevant blue card since Sleep.
Therefore it’s tempting to pick a card from another color. Solemn Offering would be a good sideboard card but it would only be as a splash as I would have seen it a while ago if white was open.
I usually like Weakness as much (if not a little more) than the Vampire in Black decks but that’s because they have a lot of three-drops. I don’t I’m short on guys and the possible Artistocrat/Howl combo is pretty cool too.
Pack 1 pick 8:
My Pick:
1) Ice Cage
2) Bog Wraith
I’m short on guys and Bog Wraith is a better card. However I’m confident that guys will come in packs 2 and 3 and that Sleep/Ice Cage is better than Bog Wraith/Vampire Aristocrat.
Hive Mind could make a decent sideboard card and is therefore about as good as the 1/1. I just don’t want to face Sparkmage as my deck should contain multiple one-toughness guys/Ice Cage/Illusionary Servants in the end.
Only two Blue cards so far and nothing anything close to the Phoenix in this pack yet for the other Red flyer.
1) Llanowar Elves
2) Deadly Recluse
3) Illusionary Servant
I don’t even know for sure if I’m Blue yet so a double Blue early drop even though it could end up fitting the deck quite well is not a priority at the moment. Being a guy an early drop and a precious gain of time while waiting for the Packs the Recluse would be quite good but I rather like picking the Elves.
The 1/2 is a better card in general but the Elves accelerates into my many late drops.
1) Divination
2) Levitation
3) Terramorphic Expanse
Even if the card would be useful my deck should be stable enough not to need Expanse. Then Divination is my pick for his capacity to accelerate into my five-mana guys and my Howls. Levitation is not a card I like so much in general but I’m pretty sure it would be very nice hereas it would definitely make Howl of the Night Pack a winning card but I just like the draw a little more and as Green is my main color I don’t want to have several double Blue costs.
1) Divination
2) Craw Wurm
I like Divination for the reasons I mentioned above while Craw Wurm even though I like the card is just another heavy drop in the deck. For the deck’s balance Divination is simply better.
In a control deck I could consider picking Scatter over the 3/2 not here.
Ponder is good and it helps regulate your draws but my almost trickless deck needs at least some removal even if they are not great.
A good enough sideboard cards (versus bombs and auras) not to hate-draft Child of Night.
It’s a money rare and the best card not so much to think about here.
Just the best UG card and I can’t splash Bolt with no fixer.
1) Centaur Courser
2) Essence Scatter
3) Giant Growth
Courser by far; it’s cheap it’s a guy it’s a good attacker and a good blocker: everything that I need basically.
After him. my deck is not fast enough for Giant Growth to be very efficient while the Remove Soul could compensate my slight curve problems.
Fog in the sideboard could be good but Artistocrat is quite good versus Mind control and even versus Ice Cage so it’s really not a card I want to face.
Both a decent sideboard card and a card I don’t want my opponent to play on Ice Caged creatures.

Llanowar Elves
Runeclaw Bear
Centaur Courser
Great Sable Stag
Snaping Drake
Mist Leopard
Acidic Slime
2 Stampeding Rhino
Bramble Creeper
Ponder
Essence Scatter
2 Divination
Sleep
3 Ice Cage
Rod of Ruin
Mind Control
2 Howl of the Night Pack
It may look like the creatures are insufficient in number but as Howls and Mind Control basically are creatures and as I’ve three card draw spells I should be fine even though the deck is not amazing.
I won my first round versus UW as I played Howl of the Night Pack twice when I already had a small advantage. In the second round facing a mono-Black splash Blue we both draw perfectly once and exchanged the first two games.
In the third game we both drew well. After playing Stag on turn 4 I will be able to play Howl of the Night Pack on turn 6 and 7 but he actually kills me on turn 7 as his turn 3 Dread Wralock turn 4 Dread Warlock turn 5 Howling Banshee doesn’t leave me a chance.
Until Monday…
