p2p1 I decided to gamble on getting a Flask with all of the card draw I already had to assemble the ‘combo.’

This draft may have been somewhat non-standard because of some chats I’ve been having with my roommate about the format. Overall we’ve decided that going for untappers and ways to abuse them ends up offering up by far the best decks we’ve had so far. This draft was really the first chance to test out that theory by aggressively forcing the archetype after pick one.

This deck was very difficult to build because of the two Dream Thieves. I decided to run one Bogle and one Stream Hopper since Bogle is good with Presence of Gond as well if I haven’t drawn an untapper. I really wish I could’ve fit the Spawn Advice from the Fae and some of the other cards in the board but I just couldn’t find room. I wanted to cut Flame Javelin which is a first for me but I decided that was probably stupid.

Round 1 was against a friend of mine who was mono Red. Both games he got slow draws and somewhat flooded and didn’t draw much removal to stop my Auras. Game 1 he killed my Leech Bonder with Fire at Will and then played Thunderblust which I wrecked with Snakeform. I played out some guys including a large Sturdy Hatchling and won from there. Game 2 I had boarded in Advice from the Fae for some card advantage and started off well casting it on turn 3 after an early Stream Hopper. He had Rosheen Meanderer and then Spitemare which I killed via Snakeform and a Leech Bonder counter. After this the game stalled out until my sideboarded-in Isleback Spawn showed up and finished the job.

Round 2 my opponent was GW. Game 1 I assembled Presence on Silkbind Faerie relatively early and after a few turns my opponent conceded. Game 2 was about as silly as game 1 as I played turn 2 Somnomancer turn 3 Steel of the Godhead and my opponent tried to race before dying.

Round 3 was against BG. Neither of these games were even close as they were both very similar. We both played out some guys and then I played Banishing Knack on Leech Bonder and bounced/killed his side. After this I cast Flow of Ideas for at least six which sealed the deal. I played slightly different guys each time but Knack bounced at least three guys in both games.

Until tomorrow…

Nick
