Daily Financial Value Of Eldritch Moon: July 7th

We are ready to unleash the Pack Value of Eldritch Moon! Wes Wise has been crunching the numbers on this spoiler season and has a few more new singles to work with!

Welcome back to my Daily Financial Value of Eldritch Moon series! From now until the full set is spoiled, I’ll be posting up regular daily updates with my thoughts about the officially-spoiled cards from Eldritch Moon!

I will be reviewing cards using the following system:

Starting Price: The first price we assign to this card as a preorder.

Current Price: The current price of the card at the time this article was written (usually by 5:00 pm the day before publication).

Future Price – Low: The lowest price I believe this card will hit while it is Standard Legal, post-release.

Future Price – High: The highest price I believe this card will hit while it is Standard legal, post-release.

Yesterday was another exciting day for spoilers! With a few cards that could see play outside of Standard I’m excited to dive into the article. Let’s get started!

Bedlam Reveler

Rarity: Rare

Starting Price: $5

Current Price: $6

Future Price – Low: $1

Future Price – High: $3

Thoughts: There is a ton of excitement surrounding Chaos Reveler right now. A lot of people are saying they think it could be Legacy or Modern playable, including some of my coworkers that also do pricing. That being said, I don’t think the card is going to make it in those formats. It’s really confusing to me that people are referring to him as a “finisher” for burn decks. You have burn, that’s your finisher. You don’t need this difficult-to-cast clunky creature. I would avoid purchasing this card until the price comes down.

Rarity: Rare

Starting Price: $1

Current Price: $1

Future Price – Low: $.50

Future Price – High: $1

Thoughts: While the art on Dark Salvation is incredible, the card itself isn’t that spectacular. The card is very expensive to get value out of. Could you imagine someone casting Spell Queller on you? Yuck! It’s very likely that Dark Salvation will see casual play and perhaps fringe Standard play. I don’t see them getting much lower than $1 so there is very little risk if you want to own them. I just wouldn’t recommend speculating on them.

Rarity: Mythic

Starting Price: $4

Current Price: $5

Future Price – Low: $2

Future Price – High: $3

Thoughts: Nahiri’s Wrath is another card I’m not super excited about. I could see Nahiri’s Wrath going up if there is a good madness deck that catches on, but it seems a bit too mana-intensive to really catch on. I would certainly recommend keeping an eye on Nahiri’s Wrath if a lot of the Madness cards start to see play, but otherwise I’d avoid picking up Nahiri’s Wrath until the price comes down a bit.

Rarity: Rare

Starting Price: $3

Current Price: $3

Future Price – Low: $3

Future Price – High: $5

Thoughts: I’m very surprised Selfless Spirit hasn’t received more attention. In its day Dauntless Escort saw a fair bit of play and was $3-$5 for most of its time in Standard. While slightly worse, I believe Selfless Spirit could easily sneak its way into some of the more aggressive Standard decks. I really like Selfless Spirit and I expect it to find a home in Standard.

Rarity: Rare

Starting Price: $3

Current Price: $8

Future Price – Low: $4

Future Price – High: $10

Thoughts: Spell Queller is now my favorite card in Eldritch Moon, beating out Eldritch Evolution by a large margin. I feel very confident that Spell Queller will see a lot of Standard play, some Modern play, and even potentially make its way into Legacy decks. It’s aggressively costed and has a great ability; that’s usually a good combination to becoming an expensive card. Spell Queller definitely has what it takes to make its way into the double digits. I expect the demand to be very high for this card over the next few months.

With only a few days left for spoilers here is the long awaited Pack Value.

Pack Value

The equation I use to determine pack value is: 2R + 1M (each rare is printed twice against each mythic) / (2x total number of rares + number of mythics) = Pack Value.

As we can see this set is shaping up to be worth slightly less than Shadows over Innistrad, but that’s to be expected for a smaller set. Overall it seems like a great set and while the value of the set might be a little lackluster, it will definitely add a lot to the play experience of Constructed and Limited.

Well folks, that’s all we have for today! Check back tomorrow as I continue to cover the last few days of Eldritch Moon spoiler season!
