Daily Digest: Simple, Yet Effective

It’s interesting that so few general strategies from the last Standard carried over. Maybe we just aren’t trying hard enough. Try this last season favorite for #SCGMINN!

There’s not much to get excited about over a G/R Monsters deck. It’s got some big creatures, some removal spells, and ways to break board parity. Overall,
it’s kinda boring, and we haven’t seen much success from this deck, at least in this season. That might all change.

I really like the fact that M3L0Q uses no Sylvan Caryatids and is focused on resolving threats at every spot on the mana curve. Heir of the Wilds is free
to attack no matter what, Fanatic of Xenagos is an underrated threat, and Boon Satyr threatens to make any of your big creatures enormous. There’s also
Goblin Rabblemaster, which continues to sneak its way into nearly every deck.

At the end of line, we have Lightning Strike, Crater’s Claws, and Chandra, Pyromaster to push things out of the way and finish off the opponent. Ghor-Clan
Rampager would be nice, but Blaze for seven works just as well.

Surprisingly, G/R has a significant amount of sideboard options. Arc Lightning matches up well against aggressive decks, Hunt the Hunter is fantastic with
the proliferation of green decks in the format, and Nylea’s Disciple wins races against Jeskai and Mono-Red. Hunter’s Prowess is a pretty nice option
against grindy matchups where drawing a bunch of cards will put you over the top.
