Daily Digest: Mono-Red Aggro

There sure were a lot of solid red cards printed in Dragons of Tarkir, and more than one set reviewer worried about an aggressive red deck storming the metagame and racking up win after win at the Invitational. This is that deck.

No one knew for sure what was going to happen with Dragons of Tarkir, but plenty of players were worried about the influx of aggressive red cards. People showed up with Hornet Nests, Arc Lightnings and the like, but none of that stopped Michael Braverman from achieving an 8-0 record in Standard.

His deck uses DTK tools like Zurgo Bellstriker, Lightning Berserker, and Dragon Fodder to put on the pressure. Old favorites like Eidolon of the Great Revel may show up in the maindeck, while cards like Goblin Heelcutter, who never really had a chance to shine, finally get their chance to do some work.

The amount of token generators make both Foundry Street Denizen and the Hall of Triumphs out of the sideboard great. Roast is a great card to bring in against Courser of Kruphix and Siege Rhino, while Outpost Siege is fantastic against control and perhaps even against some of the other red decks in the format.

While Braverman ended up losing in the Top 8, an 8-1 record overall is pretty impressive.
