Daily Digest: I Like Big Butts

Who doesn’t? Pro Tour Champion Craig Wescoe certainly does. So much that he was willing to add two colors to his traditional white deck choice in an effort to gain an edge at the Pro Tour! You can gain that same edge at the $5,000 Modern Premier IQ at #SCGHOU!

Pro Tour Champion Craig Wescoe is known for playing white cards, but sometimes he splashes other colors. For Pro Tour Fate Reforged, he decided to go the Abzan route like many others, but his deck was anything but orthodox.

Doran, the Siege Tower pairs well with Spellskite, allowing you to attack for four with your maindeck Burn and Splinter Twin hate card. Lingering Souls helps fight Infect, Affinity, and the mirror match. Copies of Sorin, Solemn Visitor, Vault of the Archangel, and Timely Reinforcements out of the sideboard do good work against Burn. Overall, it looked like Craig was well prepared for the Pro Tour field.

With no disruption, Craig’s deck appears to be weak against most combo decks, and I wouldn’t be surprised if traditional Abzan was a slight favorite, but this treefolk deck looks pretty good for an unknown Modern metagame.
