There are a few certain people I keep a close watch on and Gotsjo is one of them. He/she basically only plays Legacy and each time, it’s with an awesome
combo deck. Today is no exception.
A similar deck broke out a while ago after placing well in a Japanese tournament, but it largely fell off since that. With Treasure Cruise, it’s looking to
make another resurgence. Gotsjo’s deck aims to put an Academy Rector into play and sacrifice with it with Cabal Therapy in order to find either Omniscience
or Form of the Dragon. The older version used to play Cavern of Souls to help get the Rector into play, so that’s another option.
If Academy Rector doesn’t want to show up, you can always use Show and Tell to put in a Griselbrand or Emrakul, the Aeons Torn. Burning Wish can help you
find a copy of Show and Tell or fight through disruption by finding a Treasure Cruise.
Overall, this deck is pretty wild and might be trying to do too much at once, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Do they board in Pyroblast only to
get Academy Rectored? Do they board in graveyard hate only to get Show and Telled? Do they try to Thoughtseize you only to get Treasure Cruised?
It’s difficult to play around everything.
