Despite its recent Open Series win, Maverick is going to need some help if it wants to return to its former glory. Thankfully, the deck today might
actually do that.
Jeremy Edwards recently split the top 4 of a local tournament with a Maverick variant sporting four maindeck Carpet of Flowers. With so many blue decks in
the metagame, it isn’t crazy to run some maindeck hate.
If your opponent is blue, you could potentially have a free Black Lotus every turn! With that sort of mana advantage, it shouldn’t be too difficult to
overpower the blue decks.
If your opponent isn’t blue, you’ve got four maindeck dead cards. Overall, that’s not the worst thing in the world since Maverick tends to be good against
non-blue decks.
