When Jared Carthalion, True Heir enters the battlefield, target opponent becomes the monarch. You can’t become the monarch this turn.
If damage would be dealt to Jared Carthalion while you’re the monarch, prevent that damage and put that many +1/+1 counters on it.
Jared Carthalion, True Heir is a unique commander, allowing you to select a new monarch as he enters the battlefield. While it may take a turn for his second ability to come online, once you become the monarch again, Jared Carthalion quickly becomes a sizeable, difficult to deal with threat.
Also previewed along with Jared Carthalion, was the final Court in the Commander Legends cycle – Court of Ire!
Like the others in the cycle, Court of Ire makes you the monarch upon entering the battlefield. The second ability however, is where this card really shines, as you’re able to Shock something for free during each of your upkeeps. Should you maintain the monarch title heading into your upkeep, that two damage is bumped up to seven, making it a sizable recurring threat.
