Courtesy of Wizards of the Coast (WotC) and Becca Scott, check out the newest Boros planeswalker from Zendikar Rising — Nahiri, Heir of the Ancients!
Nahiri’s return to Magic comes with one card type in mind — Equipment!
+1: Create a 1/1 white Kor Warrior creature token. You may attach and Equipment you control to it.
Giving off strong Stoneforge Mystic vibes, this +1 ability is a great way to attach high-cost Equipment for cheap.
-2: Look at the top six cards of your library. You may reveal a Warrior or Equipment card from among them and put it into your hand. Put the rest on the bottom of your library in a random order.
With four starting loyalty, Nahiri’s first minus ability can functionally be used twice, effectively granting a look at twelve cards from your library before she expires. Having the option to choose from an Equipment or a Warrior card is also a nice, situational bonus.
-3: Nahiri, Heir of the Ancients deals damage to target creature or planeswalker equal to twice the number of Equipment you control.
While it isn’t an ultimate ability, the situational removal might actually be better, as it allows Nahiri to protect herself and generate more value over time.
Nahiri, Heir of the Ancients looks like a great build-around planeswalker that can provide an inexpensive source of card advantage in a color combination (Boros) that normally doesn’t receive it.
