Magic Online (MTGO) user Louisbach won the Legacy Super Qualifier on Thursday with Lurrus Jeskai Delver.
Creatures (10)
Lands (19)
Spells (31)
Companions, to no surprise, have taken over Legacy as well. Lurrus of the Dream-Den decks made up six of the Top 8 decks in the Legacy Super Qualifier, and Louisbach used the Orzhov companion in a Jeskai Delver build to win the whole thing. All six Lurrus decks were Delver variants with three Grixis, two Jeskai, and one Sultai shell. Dreadhorde Arcanist makes the cut in all decks with red, while the Sultai deck goes for Nimble Mongoose and Tarmogoyf as extra threats.
Louisbach beat two Delver matchups in the quarterfinals and semifinals before taking down CoolUser on a Zirda Bant Karn deck 2-1 in the finals. CoolUser’s deck was the only non-Lurrus companion deck in the Top 8 and only one of two non-Lurrus companion decks in the Top 32. CoolUser opted for Zirda, the Dawnwaker in a Bant shell with the Karn, the Great Creator toolbox taking advantage of Grim Monolith or Basalt Monolith and a Walking Ballista to combo off with the companion.
Of the Top 32 decks, 26 were companion-based decks with 24 using Lurrus and only one of each Zirda and Yorion, Sky Nomad. Lands, in the hands of KelMasterP, made Top 8 without a companion, while two Chalice of the Void decks and two Four-Color Snow decks also put up results without a companion. The other two decks in the Top 32 were Delver decks without Lurrus, going up to True-Name Nemesis or Sulfuric Vortex.
