Riot Games has announced a series of updates to the prizing and tournament policies for Riftbound Regional Championship events.
Best-Of And Overnumber Foil Prizing
In an effort to rework how prizes influence competitive decision making at Regional Championship events, overall tournament performance will now affect Overnumbered Foil Plated Legends, with the Top 58 drafting from the “…available Overnumbered Foil Plated Legends in finishing order.”
Additionally, foil Plated Legends from Unleashed, Vendetta, and Radiance will now be the Best-Of rewards, and will be “awarded to the highest finishing eligible player on their respective Legend.” Players must still reach Day 2 in order to be eligible for a Best-Of Prize.
Lastly, Legends from Origins, Proving Grounds, and Spiritforged will “…no longer be eligible for Foil Plated Legend Best-Of prizing at Regional Championships.”
Policy Updates
In an effort to “…further the competitive integrity of Regional Championships…”, Riot is implementing three major changes for these events:
- “No Throwing Matches: Players may not ask for or offer match concessions at any point before or during these tournaments except in the cases outlined below.
- Legitimate Extenuating Circumstances
- Tactical Game Concessions (conceding a non-match determining game for the sake of time).
- Intentional Draws
- No Deciding Matches After Time: If a match naturally ends in a draw due to time limits, players cannot attempt to randomly or arbitrarily determine a winner.
- Open Decklists: Regional Championships will be played with open decklists.”
Under these new policies, players who offer or engage in “…illegal match concessions or collusion agreements” will be be disqualified from the event with the potential for suspension from Riftbound competitive play.
