Goldin Auctions has revealed the lineup of high-end items included in the upcoming 2026 Pokémon 30th Anniversary auction, headlined by an extremely rare 1997 Pokemon Japanese Promo Gold 1st Place 1st Tournament #1 Trophy Pikachu – PSA NM-MT 8.

Back in May, Goldin oversaw the $1,769,000 sale of a 1998 Bronze 3rd Place 3rd Tournament Trophy Pikachu which set the record for all-time highest public sale for any Trophy Pikachu card. Records are made to be broken however, and just one day into pre-bidding, the Gold 1st Place 1st Tournament #1 Trophy Pikachu promo has surpassed the previous record total with the current bid sitting at a staggering $1,925,000 ($2,348,500 with Buyer’s Premium).

Considered to be some of the rarest cards in the Pokémon Trading Card Game’s extensive catalog, the Trophy Card series was only printed twice – once for the inaugural Japanese Pokémon tournament in 1997 and again for the Lizardon Mega Battle events the following year.

According to Goldin, this particular card was awarded to the “…first place victor at the first official Pokémon TCG tournament ever contested, which was held at Makuhari Messe Event Hall in Chiba, Japan, in June 1997.” Adding to the allure, the card is in remarkable condition for its age, receiving a NM-MT 8 grade from PSA. These factors combined make it one of the earliest and most sought-after collector pieces in the entire game.

The live auction for this card will continue through at least October 25. Stay tuned, as we’ll be following its progress over the coming weeks.
