So I started out Blue and then all of a sudden there were no playables and I got some crappy Red cards late. I took Flame Javelin first out of pack 2 because I knew I’d be able to play it no matter what. The Jaws of Stone seemed like a signal so I dove into mono Red since the other deck I was drafting was going nowhere. I got pretty lucky and pack 3 was almost perfect. This deck went from a disaster to awesome… this is not something that happens everyday but it can happen when you pay attention and get lucky.
Round 1 I played against a mediocre Green Red deck. I fell behind his Hungry Spriggan and Lurebound Scarecrow in game 1 but held on long enough to kill his team with Jaws of Stone and he was left with no board and no hand to my Crag Puca which finished him quickly. Game 2 I had a crazy draw with Mimics and Clouts. He never got a chance to block the whole game.
Round 2 I played against a slow Green Red deck. Game 1 I went off with Mimics and Clouts and finished him with Jaws of Stone. Game 2 was basically the same.
I played against the good mono Black deck I passed in the finals. Game 1 I got ahead early and had Clout on a Mimic which he had a blocker for. I needed a single Blue Red card for the win instead I drew a bunch of lands. Game 2 I drew both Mimics Clout and some Blue Red cards. Game 3 I flooded again.
It didn’t really feel like this deck could lose unless I flooded and didn’t draw either Flame Jab or Jaws of Stone.
Until tomorrow…
