Ravensburger, developer of the Disney Lorcana trading card game, has revealed details for a new multiplayer format codenamed [Format Coconut].

What Is [Format Coconut]

[Format Coconut] is a multiplayer, singleton format akin to Magic: The Gathering’s Commander format, where a deck is built around the [Coconut], a “special, spotlighted character card.” Each [Format Coconut] deck must have a minimum of 60 cards and allows up to four copies of the chosen [Coconut] while the remainder of the deck is limited to only one copy of each card (singleton).

Designed to be a more comfortable starting point for new players, [Format Coconut] supports pods of three to four players, which developers say helps alleviate the pressures of traditional one-on-one games. The format also promotes an easier, less open-ended deckbuilding formula compared to Lorcana’s other Constructed formats.

Gameplay and Rules Overview

The first step to playing [Format Coconut] is to select a special character (the [Coconut]) to build your deck around. There are currently 18 [Coconut] characters (three from each ink color) to choose from, each with its own unique ability. You can view each one below, or by downloading the Disney Lorcana Companion app.

After selecting a [Coconut], the next step is to determine which ink types your deck will include. Unlike Lorcana’s other Constructed formats, [Format Coconut] supports up to three ink types, one of which must match your chosen [Coconut].

Once your deck is built, the game can begin, with players racing to reach 25 lore instead of the usual 20. Beyond the increased lore count, [Format Coconut] follows the “normal multiplayer Disney Lorcana rules,” making it easy for established players to pick up and teach newcomers.

More information including where to provide feedback on the format can be found in the original article from Ravensburger.
