P1p1 This pack had a ton of options but I went with the most flexible yet still powerful one as Vithian Stinger fits into a few different decks well enough. I like it in Jund more than Naya but it is still quite solid in Naya.
P2p1 It looked like I was tending towards Jund and Hissing Iguanar is pretty nuts in that archetype. I like Ambusher more overall but with the likelihood of me being Jund Iguanar was the pick.
P3p1 Kresh is pretty powerful as he threatens to end the game quite quickly if left unanswered. I still don’t like Infest it turns out and I lacked a ridiculous threat so Kresh it was.
Round 1 versus 5c Obelisk
This wasn’t much of a match from my perspective since neither of the games were particularly close. While I really don’t like the Obelisk deck I certainly have to respect its power. Both games I got pretty manhandled with my opponent having no trouble casting all sorts of nice cards. Kiss of the Amesha Resoundings of all flavors basically what the Obelisk deck is meant to do (but doesn’t do often enough to be worth it in my opinion). Either way I got blown out.
Until Monday…
