Wizards Play Network (WPN) stores will have the option to run a couple special Marvel-themed events to celebrate the launch of Magic: The Gathering | Marvel Super Heroes this summer.
Similar to the Spider-Man: The Final Battle Event that ran alongside Magic: The Gathering | Marvel’s Spider-Man, Marvel Super Heroes: The Final Battle will be a Standard event that rewards an exclusive alternate cover art comic book variant of a Marvel Comic Book. The comic title hasn’t been released yet, but after the first version of this event awarded an alternate-cover of The Amazing Spider-Man #1 it could be another iconic issue.
The other event is called Magic Presents: God of Mischief — a casual Commander offering that pits three players against one, who assumes the role of Loki, the God of Mischief. This player has access to a set of advantages called “Loki’s Tricks” while the other three players team up as a trio of heroes in attempt to overtake the crafty villain. All players will receive a participation promo card for playing.
The WPN site explains how to run the event like this, “The player acting as Loki starts the game with a play aid that lists a selection of “Loki’s Tricks.” The Loki player goes first and starts with 60 life. On each of their turns, the Loki player must select a new Trick from the options available on the play aid. The other three players, the heroes, take their turns simultaneously and have a shared life total of 60.”
