New Elves, Fresh-To-Standard Legendary Reprint Coming In MTG Foundations

See some of the Elves from Foundations, inclduing the first reprinting of Lathril, Blade of the Elves

Courtesy of Wizards of the Coast (WotC), check out a swath of cards coming in Foundations to bolster the Elves archetype in Standard and Limited. The fan-favorite creature type returns to green and black with new cards, reprints, and a new-to-Standard reprint that was previously only available in a Commander product.

Starting off, we have two new cards: Elfsworn Giant and Wardens of the Cycle. While the common Elfsworn Giant isn’t an Elf itself, the five-mana 5/3 with reach creates 1/1 green Elf Warrior tokens when you trigger its landfall ability. Wardens of the Cycle is an uncommon Elf Warlock that works as a payoff to a sacrifice plan or going wide in combat. Its morbid ability helps you win a damage race with life gain or gives you card advantage at the cost of 1 life.

The reprints are headlined by Lahtril, Blade of the Elves. This legendary Elf Noble from the Kaldheim Commander set will now be legal in Standard, Pioneer, and Modern for the first time. Lathril not only helps you build up an army of Elves, but acts as a great way to finish off opponents once you control 10 or more Elves.

Reclamation Sage is a handy utility creature and Secluded Courtyard can be a great mana fixer for any typal deck — Elf or not.

Of course, we also get two booster fun treatments to show off. Check out the borderless versions of Lathril, Blade of the Elves and Reclamation Sage with art by Ekaterina Burmak and Andrew Mar, respectively. Some cards, like the borderless Lathril will also receive a new Mana Foil treatment that can only be found in Collector Boosters.

Foundations is set to release on November 15. View our official preview gallery.
